10.3 - Ghandi-Bot

If you know beer, and you're from New England, chances are you've heard of Ghandi-Bot.  It was Heady Topper before Heady was Heady.  It's still harder to get than Heady.. so there's that.  When I was recently in CT

New England Brewing Co - Ghandi-Bot
an 8.8% ABV 85 IBU Double IPA.  This isn't brewed that often and sells out as quick as Heady does.. yet has a far smaller following.  But in New England, this was the original hype DIPA.  It's got this amazing opaque orange pour with a somewhat subdued chalky head.  Huge citrus nose.. there's grapefruit, nectarine, peach, pineapple.. some sweet malts.. no bitterness at all.  This is a citrusy hop bomb up front.. huge blast of piney hops that give way to sweet tropical, citrus and peach notes.  After the initial burst of sharp hops, some bready and honey malts mellow it out and meld with the sweeter hops, but don't get fooled, this is pure hop juice.  a touch unbalanced, but then again, should any IPAs be that balanced?  I think not!  You've gotta hunt this one out if you're a hop fan.. it's sharp, bright, tropical, citrusy.. and one of the original whalez of New England.
