Saranac - Big Moose Ale
a 5.3% ABV - 13.5 IBU Pale Ale. Described as a Pale with a kick.. a MOOSE KICK! BA-ZING! yeah yeah.. I'll stick to my day job. Typical hazy golden orange straw pour.. minimal head. There's a wheaty nose with some richer cracker and bready malts, touches of caramel... underlying faint citrus and floral notes. It's malty but lighter and somewhat crisp drinking. It's like a Boston Lager light, not quite as full, malty or prominent in flavor, but still a very nice Pale for the winter season. Just enough malt and faint spices to keep it warming, but low ABV and body make it easy-drinking. Good option to complement the heavy Stouts and Porters

Saranac - Black Bear Bock
a 6.0% ABV 16.5 IBU Bock. Hazy golden orange pour.. toasty malts rise off the head.. caramel, nutty, golden raisins, burnt orange peel. There's the faintest hops that pop through in the finish, but the beer is mainly malts, through and through. Ranging from sweet caramel and raisins to toasty crackers and nuttiness.. you can taste the German influence in the malts, for sure. Clean finish.. this would be great after a day on the slopes!
- - 7 Hops!
6.0% ABV and 63 IBUs. A nice copper pour and minimal head. Caramel malts, toasty, nutty, sweet raisins, subtle piney and citrus hops in the nose. It's straight-forward for the style, but sort of complex at the same time. It's got a decent body with the right mix of caramel-sweet malts and a nice, sharp piney hop profile.. just a touch of citrus in both the malts and hops, orange and grapefruit. Although it could stand to be a bit more full, this is a very solid representation of the melding of these two styles, something that isn't seen too often with IPA variations.
