Such as SweetWater.. which I visited, clearly, and partook greatly in!
Same set-up as Philly.. brief notes about each. Nice thing is, most places in/around Atlanta allow you to do mix-6's.. score!
Red Brick Brewing - Brown. 6.0% ABV, deep brown/ruby pour, sad little head.. it's like it had soap in the bottle or something. Nutty and caramel-y nose.. slightly watery taste, had all the makings of a great brown, but was just too weak.
New Belgium - Trippel. Not a GA brew, but you barely see their beers in MA, so YEP! 7.8% ABV, nice spice notes in the nose and taste, crisp, yeasty and a touch of apple/peach. Not the traditional Trippel, but pretty decent overall
New Belgium - Fat Tire. This one helped make New Belgium famous, so I needed to grab it. A 5.2% Amber, amazing crystal clear ruby pour. Malty and caramel nose, faint hops. Sweet taste, a bit watery and one dimensional. Maybe it lost it touch when New Belgium expanded, maybe we're used to complex beers now.. maybe it was a bad bottle either way, not very impressed, at all.
Red Brick - Blonde a 5.7% ABV Blonde.. honestly, looks like piss. Slightly dehydrated human pee. Grassy and citrus nose, basically the same in the taste. Crisp, a bit rough around the edges, but refreshing in the Georgia heat.
Shiner - Bock (Spoetzel Brewery) 4.4% ABV - their flagship. Again, have always heard of it, so it was a must-buy. German-style bock, clean and malty as all hell. Nothing out-of-this-world, but incredibly solid and delicious.
Red Brick - Hoplanta. a 6.7% ABV IPA - Heady, hazy, restrained nose. Mildly biscuit malts, wheat, yeast, lemon and grassy hops. Like a hoppy wheat.. all their beers seem to be a bid on the tame side, shame.
More to come folks.. these take time, ya know?!
