No, no, not mine. Which is OK, cause any chance to have some good homebrews is fine by me!
Lucky enough to have a friend whose roommate brews and is pretty damned good at it too. Gave me a couple bottles a few short months back and finally getting around to enjoying some. Just so happens today is the first day of Spring, so I'm gonna sip on some Pumpkin ales!
First one is a simple, straight-forward Pumpkin ale.. pouring a nice orange-brown with a quickly disappearing head. A traditional nose for this style, hints of spice, fresh pumpkin and some brown sugar sweetness. Very crisp.. a nice example of a Pumpkin. Just enough sweeter caramel malts with brown sugar and light molasses notes mingle around fresh pumpkin tastes with some hints of orange peel. A little spice on the finish rounds out a great homebrew!
He also gave me a Pumpkin ale that was aged on fresh vanilla beans! A bit darker in color, this beer's head stayed the whole way through. A more mellow nose, heavy on the sweetness and malts. Again, brown sugar with some spice and toasty malts come through and hints of sweet vanilla hide behind it all. A much fuller, sweeter taste to this as well. Less pumpkin taste is present, with more sweetness and fairly forward vanilla. Lacked a bit of complexity, but just what you'd expect from a vanilla Pumpkin ale.. kudos, Jason!
