5.14 - Are Pumpkins in Season?

Well, considering this wasn't released until October because they actually used FRESH pumpkins.. waiting a tad over 6 months isn't terrible...but it's not exactly great either.  Let's see how it held up!

Jack's Abby - Mom & Pop's Pumpkin Crop Lager
a 5.5% ABV 10 IBU Pumpkin Lager - 100 fresh pumpkins and 40 fresh gourds went into this bad boy.  A rich copper/orange pour with a nice long-lasting pure white head.  The nose is simply delectable!  This is fresh pumpkin pie for sure.. tons of fleshy pumpkin, malty graham crackers, some vanilla and a little bit of spice.  The taste follows suit - it's pumpkin/gourd forward as opposed to fake spice.  It's fairly light and effervescent for such a flavorful brew..there's just the right amount of cinnamon, nutmeg and other spices to remind you of Thanksgiving dinner with the crazy family.  There's bready and cracker malts that give the impression, unsurprisingly, of a pre-made pie crust.  Not overly sweet.. just a bit of vanilla and caramel.. a very clean finish.  JA just set the bar as to what Pumpkin beers should be!
