Thursday Night Boulevards

So why not have the other 2 Boulevard beers I've been hoarding on a Thursday night while watchin the B's take on those dirty Canadiens!

Starting off with a Boulevard - the Sixth Glass.  A Belgain Quad at 10.5% ABV and 22 IBUs..  a great burnt orange color, carbonation bubbling loudly as it pours.  Malty sweet and crisp nose..  figs, molasses, burnt toffee with some yeasty esters and touches of alcohol.  For over 10%.. man this is a smooth light beer!  Highly carbonated, to the level of a champagne.  Again, totally malt forward.  Raisins, figs, molasses, Belgian candi sugar..  all of these mixed with a sort of smokey oak/light banana Belgian-y note.  A nice oily finish, sweet and only a hint of the alcohol burn.  Far too easy to drink, and far too easy to find the devil in that sixth glass!

2nd Boulevard..  Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale! - 8.0% ABV and 38 IBUs.  Apparently fermenter #7 had been the thorn in Boulevard's side, until they were working on this beer, and it was the only fermenter to work for it and the only beer to work in that fermenter.  A nice hazy golden straw pour, crazy heady.  Seems to have a faint nose, slightly funky and heavy on the citrus, mainly lemon peel and some grapefruit/grassy hops.  Some spice typical to a Belgain farmhouse/Saison, but much more subdued.  More of an alcohol bite than you'd expect from the style... yet still a super crisp and bright Saison.  Great lemon peel and citrus hops blend perfectly with pale malts and the slightest hint of a sour funk.  Another winner from Boulevard!
